Lautaro Martinez is excited to start playing for Inter again after the forward began preseason training on Wednesday.

El Toro helped Argentina reach the Copa America semi-finals earlier this summer and had his holidays delayed as a result.

Now he is back, the 21-year-old is excited about representing the Nerazzurri under new boss Antonio Conte.

“I’m very eager to get back onto the pitch, but it’ll be up to the coach whether I play,” Lautaro told Inter TV today, when asked about Sunday’s International Champions Cup clash against Tottenham.

“I’m very happy because I’ve started training again. I took advantage of my holidays to relax, but now I’m here with my teammates and we’ll prepare the best we can for this season.”

Lautaro has already spoken to Conte in a series of phone calls this summer, but today was the first opportunity to meet his new coach in person.

The striker said: “He’s a coach who places great importance on hard work. There’s a great group being formed here and this is very important, because you have to train hard to achieve important results.

“I’m happy to be here with some new faces and I hope everything goes well. The Copa America was a great experience for me personally but I’m only thinking about Inter now.”
