Mauro Icardi ‘Must Consider Napoli & Roma’ After Juventus Ditch Inter Forward

Mauro Icardi’s hopes of joining Juventus this summer have been shattered by the Bianconeri’s decision to sign Romelu Lukaku, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Icardi and Wanda Nara both earmarked a move to Turin as the best option for their future, in terms of money but also sporting prospects.

However, they can no longer move there and the pair will now have to reconsider Napoli and Roma’s interest for the striker.

“With Fabio Paratici onside it looked like a certain deal for Icardi to join Juventus,” Gazzetta assured this morning.

“Wanda has always said Mauro wants to stay with the Nerazzurri, but in reality that was a strategy that would ultimately take him elsewhere. Now, though, Inter’s no. 9 will have to change his plans.”

Icardi is not currently open to joining either Napoli or Roma, despite both having made approaches in recent weeks.

Inter want €60 million to sell their former captain but that would appear to be an ambitious asking price in the circumstances.

Aurelio De Laurentiis hopes he can change Icardi’s mind by offering Champions League football and the chance to play with Carlo Ancelotti.

Roma are intrigued by the 26-year-old, despite already having planned to replace Edin Dzeko with Gonzalo Higuain, but they may be deterred by Icardi’s wage demands.
