Mauro Icardi is determined to stay at Inter if the forward cannot complete a move to Juventus, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Bianconeri are on the verge of signing Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United, closing the door on a move to Turin for the Nerazzurri’s former captain.

However, instead of reconsidering offers from Napoli and Roma, Icardi would rather remain in Milan and risk an entire season on the side-lines.

“Juventus’ charm offensive must have been very convincing for Icardi,” Gazzetta reported this morning.

“The only other path Icardi is considering is staying with Inter, because he is still convinced he can persuade Antonio Conte to change his mind.”

Inter are showing no sign of changing their official stance and allowing Icardi a second chance at the club.

The club are confident they can secure a sale before the transfer window closes on 2 September, but they will not let Maurito rejoin the first-team fold if that does not happen.

Gazzetta confirmed: “Icardi would stay out in the cold without Conte calling upon him. That’s the club’s position and he knows that very well.”
