Inter CEO Marotta: “Very Confident We’ll Find A Solution For Mauro Icardi’s Future”

Beppe Marotta remains hopeful Inter will secure a deal to sell Mauro Icardi before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Friday’s leading sports papers in Italy suggested the Nerazzurri could extend the striker’s contract before sending him on loan to a club abroad.

Icardi did not feature in Inter’s win against Lecce earlier this week and will be excluded again when Antonio Conte’s side play Cagliari.

“You all know what our intentions are because we made them clear a long time ago,” Marotta told reporters at the Hotel Sheraton Milan San Siro today.

“There are two days left now and we’re certainly very confident we can find a solution which respects Icardi’s value, as well as corresponding to the respect we have for him for the professionalism he’s always demonstrated.”

Monaco are being linked with a last-minute move for Icardi, having reportedly offer the striker an annual salary worth up to €10 million.

Marotta added: “There are lots of ideas at the moment and we’re waiting, we’re having some talks.

“All the parties are collaborating with one another so we can reach a solution before Monday.”

Marotta also confirmed Inter would not make any more signings in the next 72 hours, following the arrivals of Cristiano Biraghi and Alexis Sanchez.

“We’re satisfied with the work we’ve done and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Piero Ausilio for everything he’s done alongside me,” he said.

“We’re very happy about the investments president Zhang has made and we’re happy to have given Antonio Conte a strong squad to work with.”
