Inter manager Antonio Conte intends to deploy Inter in a 3-4-2-1 this weekend with Diego Godin, Nicolo Barella and Matteo Politano all set to start for the Nerazzurri in this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.
Conte needs a charismatic leader in the team who can share his experience on the park and this is exactly why Godin was signed. The Uruguayan was an unused substitute in Inter’s 1-1 draw against Slavia Prague despite having impressed in his full debut in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Udinese in Serie A. He will return to the defence and will partner Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar.
When it comes to Barella, the Italian midfielder saved the day by scoring a late late equaliser and is set to be rewarded with his second consecutive start in the league. Conte was impressed by the intensity that he brought to the Slavia Prague game upon being substituted on.
Finally, as for Politano, he will start in behind striker Romelu Lukaku. He was dangerous throughout the match with Udinese and also made a notable difference when he came off the bench.
