Inter & AC Milan Rejected Council’s Offer To Buy San Siro As It’s Not Fit For Purpose

Inter and AC Milan have rejected the Milan city council’s proposal to buy San Siro for a number of reasons according to a report from Calcio e Finanza.

The two clubs are intent on building a new stadium to replace the ageing San Siro but this did not stop the city council from making a last ditch attempt to convince them otherwise by offering them the ground for a sum of €70 million.

The clubs have rejected the offer due to the fact San Siro does not meet the needs of modern football neither for them nor for the fans.

The costs associated with renovating San Siro are deemed extremely excessive and would have meant four years of disruption which in turn would have meant the clubs would be getting less revenue per match.

Building a new stadium meanwhile gives the clubs much better room for manoeuvre. The priority is to remain in the San Siro area which the clubs will renovate with the new stadium and a whole new area surrounding the proposed new ground.
