Roberto Gagliardini is favourite to replace Stefano Sensi in the Inter starting line-up, should Sensi be unable to recover in time for Inter’s match against Sassuolo according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.
Sensi sustained a thigh injury during this past weekend’s 2-1 Derby D’Italia loss to Juventus and the club confirmed that his condition will be re-evaluated in the coming days.
The 24-year-old midfielder is expected to be back for the next Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund but until the next tests, it remains unclear as to whether he could be back to face Sassuolo.
Due to this uncertainty, Inter manager Antonio Conte has identified Gagliardini as the man to replace him in the middle of the park.
Gagliardini definitely does not have the same characteristics as Sensi does but does offer a real attacking threat and more of a physical presence.
The only player who is remotely similar to Sensi is Borja Valero but the veteran Spaniard has yet to see any action this season and is unlikely to see any against Sassuolo either.
