Inter Forward Alexis Sanchez Injured With Chile, Will Return To Milan For Further Testing

Inter forward Alexis Sanchez had to be substituted off late in Chile’s friendly match against Colombia yesterday, with the Chilean national team discussing the player’s injury in an official press release today.

“The medical staff of the Chilean national team announce that the player Alexis Sanchez has suffered in the second half of the game against Colombia the dislocation of the peroneal tendons of the left ankle with the involvement of the retinaculum of the flexors, for this in agreement with the medical staff of his team, he was released from his commitments with the Chilean national team and will return to Milan, where he will undergo MRI tests and dynamic echotomography in order to take the best therapeutic decision.”

30-year-old Sanchez is likely to be unavailable for Inter’s upcoming game against Sassuolo, forcing Inter coach Antonio Conte to have to look for other options in attack to pair with 22-year-old Lautaro Martinez, such as Matteo Politano.
