Suning Are Why Inter Manager Conte Didn’t Get Transfer Targets, Not Ausilio & Co.

A report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport has come to the defence of Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio and spared him from some of the blame after Antonio Conte took aim at the management after the loss to Dortmund.

It was not entirely – if even at all – Ausilio’s decision to hold off making the move for Roma striker Edin Dzeko. Conte wanted the Bosnian added to his ranks but Inter held off which angered Dzeko, who went on to pen a new deal with the Giallorossi.

It was also not Ausilio who ended Inter’s transfer market following the acquisition of Cristiano Biraghi, despite Conte’s wishes for another midfielder to be added being well known.

These decisions depend entirely on Suning, who invested around €180 million this past Summer and have invested heavily since taking charge of the club back in 2016.

It is also worth noting that Ausilio was in fact crucial in bringing in Lautaro Martinez to the club, a player who is an integral part of Conte’s side at the moment, back in 2018. Lautaro Martinez joined in a €25 million deal from Racing Club and if sold, will see Inter surely pocket in excess of €100 million.

The report goes on to state that when Inter president Steven Zhang returns from his business in China, he will ratify the contract extension of Ausilio.

Ausilio’s contract with the club will be extended in line with the expiry dates of chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and manager Antonio Conte meaning all three will be tied down to the club until at least the Summer of 2022.
