Samir Handanovic has shared his disappointment after Inter crashed out of the Champions League following a 2-1 loss to Barcelona.

Despite Barcelona putting out a heavily rotated side, Antonio Conte could not guide his side past them and now the Nerazzurri must prepare for Europa League participation in the new year.

“We had our chances but we failed to score in the second half. We knew that they were good on the counter and things got harder as the game went on,” he began an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

“We gave our all and now we must go on. It is a defeat that hurts but it is not one that has an affect on the league. We have two games before the winter break, we need to recharge ourselves and recover mentally as we face Fiorentina on Sunday.

He concluded: “Our performances in the group games showed we deserved to go through, but unfortunately we had some ups and downs during the matches.”
