Flamengo remain optimistic about their chances of signing Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa on a permanent basis from Inter according to a report from Brazilian news outlet Globo Esporte.
The Rio de Janeiro based club met with the 23-year-old striker’s representatives in Qatar following the Club World Cup and all parties involved are optimistic that Gabigol will join permanently but some details still need to be ironed out.
Flamengo have had a deal in place with Inter for some time and it is now just a matter of personal terms being agreed and Gabigol giving everything the go ahead.
After a long year, which saw him play no less than 58 games, Gabigol is currently on holiday and after his holiday he will resume training but will not do so with Inter, who consider him to not be a part of the club’s project.
The report goes on to state that the former Santos attacker, who joined Inter for €30 million back in 2016, also has interest in his services from several European clubs.
