In an interview with Brazilian broadcaster Fox Sports, Flamengo vice-president Marcos Braz has provided an update on their pursuit of Inter striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa.
The 23-year-old striker is understood to be the Rio de Janiero based club’s top transfer target this month as they look to sign him up on a permanent basis following his highly successful loan spell in 2019.
Gabigol, who joined Inter for around the €30 million mark from Santos back in 2016, scored 43 goals and tallied 13 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions.
“The situation has not yet been resolved,” Braz stated.
Gabigol’s excessive wage demands are understood to have held the move up but reports in recent days have suggested that he is willing to drop his demands in order to get a deal done.
As per many reports, there is already an agreement in principle between Inter and Flamengo over his transfer but things could change given the interest of West Ham United in particular.
