Newcastle United are currently leading the race to sign Inter defender Valentino Lazaro according to a report from FCInterNews.it.

Lazaro’s agent Max Hagmayr has already been in talks with the Premier League outfit over a potential move but Hagmayr wishes to evaluate all possible options before rushing into anything.

There are several clubs from the Bundesliga also keen on signing the Austria international with Werder Bremen and RB Leipzig among them.

Lazaro only joined Inter six months ago from Hertha Berlin but has found playing time hard to come by. Despite this, the report states that he would like to stay at Inter and fight for his place in the team. At the same time however the player is aware that he needs to be playing regularly if he is to make Austria’s squad for EURO 2020.

The 23-year-old has made 11 appearances since his arrival at the Nerazzurri. In 513 minutes on the field, he has tallied two assists.
