San Siro will be partially demolished and become a sporting city of sorts in the future according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.
Officials from both Inter and AC Milan met with the Milan city council yesterday and presented revised plans for their new stadium project which incorporate a re-purposed San Siro.
The Manica-Cmr Sportium project will see the entire east side of the stadium preserved. Both of the first and second tiers will remain whilst three of the four towers at the corners will be demolished.
What remains of the stadium will be transformed into a public park which will allow citizens to play football, basketball, run and climb. Moreover, in the remaining tower, there will be a restaurant and a rooftop garden.
Populous on the other hand intend to demolish all the towers that surround San Siro and will preserve parts of both Curva’s and some of the ramps.
