Flamengo Vice-President Marcos Braz has once again confirmed that negotiations with Inter are ongoing regarding the transfer of Brazilian striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa.

During the official press conference when Pedro was unveiled, Braz was asked what the situation was regarding the player who spent 2019 on loan at Flamengo.

“The situation is the same as it was before, we are still in negotiations to try and resolve the final details. The player is today not owned by Flamengo.”

“We need to wait and we need to remain calm if we want this story to have a happy ending.”

Gabigol signed for Inter in the summer of 2016 for a reported fee of €29.5 million but struggled to find any playing time and has since joining been sent on several loans, with Flamengo being the latest and by far the most successful.

Since joining the Rubonegro just over a year ago, Gabigol has featured 59 times across all competitions scoring 43 goals in the process.
