Valentino Lazaro arrived in Newcastle early this morning ahead of undergoing a medical with Newcastle United according to a report from British broadcaster Sky Sports.

The Premier League club have reached a loan with option to buy deal with Inter for the Austrian international. The option to buy is set at £20 million (€23.5 million).

The 23-year-old defender had also drawn interest from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig but now looks set to complete a move to Newcastle, who are currently sat in 14th although they are tied for points with 10th placed Arsenal.

Lazaro joined Inter this past Summer from Hertha Berlin but has found playing time limited under Inter manager Antonio Conte.

The former RB Salzburg player has been limited to just 11 appearances, four of which have come as a starter, but he should find playing time a lot easier to come by at St James’ Park due to Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett out for the rest of the season due to injury.
