Napoli will not let striker Fernando Llorente depart the club between now and the end of the transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.
The veteran Spanish forward has drawn links with moves to Inter and Barcelona in recent weeks but as per the Turin newspaper, Napoli have decided the former Tottenham Hotspur player is going nowhere.
It is understood that Dries Mertens recent injury problems were a big factor in Napoli management coming to this decision about Llorente, who joined them six months ago on a free transfer.
The 34-year-old has made 24 appearances across all competitions this season for the Partenopei. In 666 minutes on the park, he has scored four goals and provided a single assist for his teammates.
With Llorente now off the transfer market, it is likely that Inter will finalise a move for Olivier Giroud as reports elsewhere in the media have suggested Inter were waiting to see if Llorente would be allowed to leave the Stadio San Paolo before doing so.
