Inter CEO Beppe Marotta stopped by Italian broadcaster RAI Sport moments ago as is the tradition before kick-off, to answer questions on all things concerning the Nerazzurri.

The former Juventus CEO was asked if he considered new signing Christian Eriksen, whose move from Tottenham to Inter was made official yesterday, to be one of the strongest players in Europe and if this model of signing big names is how the Nerazzurri will move forward.

“Eriksen is an excellent player and we are happy to have him here with us. Inter’s appeal is very high and I hope this is the start of a generation with many great champions.

“We need a little of everything, a great coach but also a group of players who together create a squad made up of many different qualities.

“The negotiations took a bit longer because on the other side of the table there was a great manager like Daniel Levy, but we were reassured by the fact that the player was fond of our project and by the fact that he would be able to work with Conte.

“We found an agreement which allows us to reward all of Inter as well as a squad that is already very important.”

Marotta was then asked if Eriksen was Inter’s final signing during this transfer window to which the Nerazzurri CEO replied that it most likely was unless other opportunities like the one which allowed Inter to sign Eriksen presented themselves.

“I don’t think that we will make any more business. This is a transfer window made up of opportunities, and after having found a player like Eriksen I will say that there are no players available that will help us raise the quality of the squad.”

Marotta was asked his opinion as to why Inter had failed to win their last few games suggesting that there was not much to worry about.

“It is difficult to find the right reason, but the coach has analyzed why in the correct way. I am certain that the path we are on is very positive and we want to do better in the second half of the season.”

Inter host Fiorentina in the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia TIM Cup at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district with kick-off scheduled for 20.45 CET.
