Inter Defender Andrea Ranocchia: “Christian Eriksen Is An Important Player”

Inter’s Italian defender Andrea Ranocchia stopped by Italian broadcaster RAI Sport moments ago, to share his thoughts going into the quarterfinal clash of the Coppa Italia against Fiorentina at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district, with kick-off scheduled for 20.45 CET.

The former Nerazzurri captain underlined that tonight’s clash against the Viola was an important knockout game that Inter had to win.

“Tonight’s match is a simple knock-out match, either you’re in or you’re out and it needs to be approached in the right way. We have only one result we need to achieve.”

Ranocchia was then asked about the importance that new signing Christian Eriksen will have on the Nerazzurri squad, after his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur was made official yesterday.

To which the former Sampdoria and Genoa defender outlined the great quality and experience Eriksen has before concluding that what matters is that the team wins and not who scores.

“Eriksen is an important player, who has played at important stadiums, and who now has to give his all for this shirt. What matters tonight is that we win, it doesn’t matter who scores.”

The former Hull City man Ranocchia joined Inter in January 2011 from Genoa in a deal worth €19 million and has since then featured 198 times across all competitions scoring 13 goals in the process.
