Inter wing back Antonio Candreva spoke with Italian broadcaster Rai Sport immediately after Inter’s 2-1 victory over Fiorentina in the quarter finals of the Coppa Italia.

The experienced Italian international gave Inter the lead just before the half time interval as he pounced on a miscommunication at the back between Fiorentina’s goalkeeper and one of the defenders.

He firstly spoke on the game itself.

“We were suffering but we managed to do it in a positive way, now we must think about the league again.”

He then proceeded to discuss Inter’s newest recruit Christian Eriksen, who was given his first minutes on the park as an Inter player off of the substitutes bench.

“He is one of a number of important players to have arrived who can give us a great hand in the future, we look forward to it.”

He was then asked about finding his best form again under the stewardship of Inter manager Antonio Conte this season.

“The manager is a very good manager who gets the best out of everyone. We have a desire for revenge after last year was not as positive as we would have liked.

“This year is going well, we have to go on like this because there is still a long way to go. Now let’s put the past aside and think about the future, the road is still long and we can improve.”

In conclusion, he was asked how close he thinks Inter are to catching arch rivals Juventus.

“We all know that Juve is strong but we want to bother them. We need to think only about ourselves though without looking at others. Top players have arrived at us.”

Candreva, who joined Inter back in the Summer of 2016 as one of Inter’s owners Suning’s first purchases, has made 23 appearances across all competitions to date this season.

In 1575 minutes on the park, the former Lazio player, who was previously an out and out winger, has scored four goals and provided five assists for his teammates.
