Inter central midfielder Nicolo Barella spoke with the club’s official broadcaster Inter TV following Inter’s 2-1 Coppa Italia quarter final victory over fellow Serie A club Fiorentina on Wednesday night at San Siro.
The highly rated 22-year-old was one of Inter’s best performers on the night against La Viola and scored what turned out to be the winning goal that has set Inter up for a semi final double header with another fellow Serie A side in Napoli.
Antonio Candreva had given Inter the lead at the end of the first half before Martin Caceres restored parity between the clubs on the hour mark. Seven minutes later Barella put Inter back in the lead as he hammered a half volley into the bottom corner past Pietro Terracciano in the Fiorentina goal.
“We played with great desire and we deserved the win. Often this season we have not collected what we have deserved to. It will be difficult against Napoli but we will prepare,” he started.
Next he shared his delight at bagging his third goal of the 2019/20 campaign.
“I like to help the team with my goals. I hope to score more and more.”
He concluded the interview by sharing his admiration for new Inter signing Christian Eriksen who joined the club on Tuesday from Tottenham Hotspur.
“Eriksen is a great player, he helps us even more to raise the level and therefore he is welcome.”
