Inter Owned Goalkeeper Radu’s Agent: “He’s Proved To Be An Important Goalkeeper, I Hope He Can Takeover From Handanovic”

In an interview with CalcioMercato.com, one of Ionut Radu’s agents Crescenzo Cecere, has explained his client’s pending loan move to Parma.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper was loaned to Genoa for the duration of the 2019/20 season by Inter but with Radu losing his place in the team in recent weeks due to the arrival of Mattia Perin, Inter have decided to move Radu elsewhere so he can continue to play regularly to help aid his development.

Firstly he spoke on the switch to Parma, which has come about following the injury to Parma goalkeeper Luigi Sepe.

“It has been a last minute operation, Parma had the need to take a goalkeeper and set their eyes on Radu. Ionut is an important player, young but with already 50 games in Serie A. Last year he helped Genoa to save themselves, we are happy with the choice made.”

He then reflected on his client’s time with Genoa.

“The technical issues are not within my competence, I am just saying that Radu gave so much to Genoa and vice versa. The year and last year he proved to be an important goalkeeper. This year he brought points, then the management changed and the manager changed too.”

He then went on to speak about the belief that Inter have in Radu and his hopes of seeing him as the long term replacement for current number one goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

“There were many offers from abroad, like from Nice but last year Inter made a precise choice, when they bought him from Genoa, by giving him sign a five year contract. They want to go on a path together.

“Will he be the heir to Handanovic? I hope so. At the end of the year we will see, if he returns to Inter he will have a lot to learn from him.”

Radu has made 19 appearances across all competitions to date this season in which he has conceded 37 goals and kept two clean sheets.
