Inter and AC Milan have entered phase two in their work for a new stadium, after agreeing that the San Siro is worth around €100 million and being prepared to immediately pay for the surface rights of the area, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere di Milano.
The report details how both the Milanese sides are prepared to begin immediately paying for the surface rights of the area, in order to match the requirements set by the City Council.
Councillor of the Budget Roberto Tasca discussed the negotiations with the clubs to the Milanese newspaper.
“The teams planned to pay after 32 years for the surface rights. We said no, the surface rights must be paid when you start to have the assets under your management. So right away. Also, on this they understood our reasoning. We would like to have, also for cash reasons, a flow from the start that feeds what we lose on the other side, with 10 million of the agreement that today the teams pay every year for the use of San Siro. In any case, we have not yet talked about numbers as much as criteria.”
Tasca also discussed the agreement with the two clubs over the value of the existing San Siro stadium.
“We have found an agreement of visions, the teams have understood the value of €100 million. We as a municipality have a patrimonial value that is €100 million for the ownership of the San Siro, which becomes €90 million in case of the surface rights, a value that today we must find taken up within the economic and financial plan.”
The financial plan must also be updated, the report continues, due to the need to now renovate the existing San Siro stadium. The current plan is to transform the stadium into a cathedral for non-professional sports, which would be open and free to everyone. The final question now is the volumes, with the clubs providing for a volumetric index of 0.63. The municipality for that area indicates an index almost half, 0.35. An agreement in the middle of that is expected.
