Inter legend Beppe Bergomi discussed Inter’s acquisition of Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen and what he will bring to the squad in an interview earlier today with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia.
“Everyone says he’s a big acquisition, this makes us excited. I recognise Eriksen to be a quality player and to be able to give a lot to the team, but if we think about the minutes he played against Fiorentina, people have already said that the man didn’t explode onto the scene. But he’s not that kind of player, so you have to understand what he will do here in Italy. For me Inter are not on a par with Juventus but they took a midfielder different from what their opponents have.”
The 27-year-old Danish midfielder, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until June of 2024, made his Inter debut against Fiorentina in their clash in the Coppa Italia earlier in the week. Inter invested €20 million into Eriksen, believing he will be vital in the club’s title race against rivals and reigning champions Juventus.
Eriksen had made 28 appearances across all competitions for Spurs this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists in that time. His failed move away from the North London side last summer saw his form drop, as it became clear that he wanted to leave the club. The player made 305 appearances across seven years for Tottenham, scoring 69 goals and providing 89 assists in that time.
