In an interview with Italian radio station TMW Radio, which was broadcast late last night, respected Italian football journalist Mario Sconcerti has commented on the current state of the top three teams in Italy following the closure of the transfer window.

After 21 games played in Serie A, Inter currently find themselves just three points behind league leaders Juventus but the Nerazzurri are not alone in bothering the reigning champions with Lazio also hot on their tail with them sitting five points behind the Bianconeri in third place.

“Inter have signed Eriksen, who will hardly disappoint. They have also signed Moses and Young. Juve has instead sold one player, but they have four midfielders for three roles. They only have one defender behind De Ligt and Bonucci and have three possible attacking midfielders who do not fully convince Sarri,” he explained.

“Juve have financial difficulties, otherwise they would have made moves on the market. In my opinion the most complete team is Lazio, but they are not the favourites.”

Sconcerti also spoke on Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud who drew strong links with moves to both Inter and Lazio during the January transfer window, which slammed shut last night.

“He would have been a reserve for both Inter and Lazio. He was very surprised by Lotito’s high offer, it means Lotito is believing in the Scudetto.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on Inter manager Antonio Conte and called on the former Italian national team manager to explain the club’s recent poor form in Serie A, which has saw them draw four of their last six matches.

“I would like an explanation from the coach as to why they have drawn so often in the last few games and why he wanted Eriksen.

“I wish Conte would speak. He has a moral duty to do so. It doesn’t matter how good you are. Dialogue is the first form of respect.”
