Prior to his move to Premier League club Manchester United, Odion Ighalo had been considered by Inter according to a report from CalcioMercato.com.
In the final days of the recent January transfer window, Inter were looking to bring in another striker to bolster the team’s attack for the second half of the 2019/20 season.
Nigerian international striker Ighalo ended up on Inter’s radar among many many other strikers including the likes of Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud and Leicester City’s Islam Slimani, who is currently out on loan at Monaco, but in the end Inter opted to settle for what they already had and abandoned their search for a new striker.
This therefore allowed Manchester United to come in and secure the signing of Ighalo on loan for the remainder of the season from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenua.
The Red Devils managed to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of the 29-year-old, who previously played for Udinese.
