In an interview with Omnisport, former Inter defender Francesco ‘Ciccio’ Colonnese has shared his belief that Inter need some craziness about them as much as Inter manager Antonio Conte may not want it off the back of Inter’s Derby della Madonnina win over city rivals AC Milan this past weekend.
Inter trailed the Rossoneri 2-0 at half time but came out for the second half an entirely different side and would smash four goals past their opponents to secure a memorable 4-2 Milan derby win.
“Conte maybe wants a little more balance, but I think that in the derby he was just as excited as the fans were and having this craziness makes sure that there is more passion and can keep the team alive in the moments of difficulty,” he began.
“Some craziness doesn’t hurt. It is good to have such emotions, it is part of football. In the first half I was incredulous like everyone else, AC Milan played like never seen before, Inter could not be aggressive. In the second Inter were more aggressive as they wanted to overturn the result.
“When playing at home, you have a greater desire to win. There was a change of pace from a mental point of view for Inter and AC Milan failed to react to it.”
Colonnese spent three years on Inter’s books between the years 1997 and 2000 and made 80 appearances across all competitions for the club during that time. In his first season with the club, he played a part in the team winning the UEFA Cup and this proved to be the only silverware he would win during his time with the club.
Nowadays the 48-year-old plays for Inter’s legends team, Inter Forever, alongside the likes of Javier Zanetti, Dejan Stankovic and other Nerazzurri favourites from years gone by.
