Dries Mertens has spoken to Inter striker and compatriot Romelu Lukaku about the club according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The Napoli attacker is out of contract come the end of the season and Inter are keen on bringing him in on a free transfer and Mertens would also appear keen given he has spoken to Lukaku about what the club is like etc.

As per the report, Inter have already been in contact with the 32-year-old’s representatives and are willing to offer him a two year contract offer with an annual salary net of €5 million.

Mertens is understood to also has interest in his services from Ligue 1 club Monaco whilst Chelsea also showed an interest in him during the recent January transfer window.

The former PSV Eindhoven man has made 24 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored 10 goals and tallied five assists.
