Inter wing back Victor Moses has insisted that the team cannot use the energy lost in Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina win over AC Milan as an excuse for their loss to Napoli in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi final last night.
Inter came from two goals down to win the Milan derby 4-2 and visibly struggled to play with the same intensity in the match against the Partenopei at San Siro as they lost 1-0.
“We used up a lot of physical and mental energy on Sunday but this cannot be an excuse. We are very disappointed with this defeat, but we must not lose heart. We must win in the return leg,” Moses explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV.
The experienced Nigerian international defender, who joined Inter in a six month loan with option to buy deal from Premier League side Chelsea during the January transfer window, then spoke on how he has adapted to his new surroundings.
“It is not easy, it is very tactical. It is important for me to put myself at the service of the team and my teammates.”
In conclusion the 29-year-old sang the praises of Inter manager Antonio Conte, who he is working with for a second time in his career having also worked with him at Chelsea.
“He is one of the best managers in the world. He played football himself and he has a lot of passion. I am very happy to work with him again.”
