Padelli’s Agent: “Inter Goalkeeper Was Massacred After Milan Derby”

Daniele Padelli will once again be in goal for Inter when they take on Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night.

Samir Handanovic is still out of action with a hand injury, and while the Slovenian could come into contention for the Europa League game with Ludogorets he will not be ready for the trip to Rome.

After the Nerazzurri decided not to sign Emiliano Viviano, that will mean Padelli is once again between the posts against Lazio.

The 34-year-old has made just two Serie A appearances since joining in 2017, and was criticised for his performance against AC Milan in the derby.

Padelli missed an interception as Ante Rebic opened the scoring, and was beaten from close range by a Zlatan Ibrahimovic header.

Inter went on to win the game 4-2, and the goalkeeper’s agent has defended his performance in the derby.

Silvano Martina told Cittaceleste: “Padelli was slaughtered but he couldn’t do anything about the first goal.

“On the second he could have done better but Ibra shot from two metres out. It wasn’t a howler, it was a mistake that can happen.

“Criticism is fair, malice is not. In the end it was everyone’s fault.

“I’ve spoken with Padelli on the phone, he was calm and motivated. He told me that he hopes for a bit of luck too, because that will be needed against Lazio…

“Viviano? I don’t think he’ll come. Listening to Marotta I don’t think he’ll come.”
