Matias Vecino could be preferred to Christian Eriksen by Inter manager Antonio Conte to start in the midfield in tonight’s match away to fellow title chasers Lazio according to a report in today’s print edition of La Repubblica.
Conte could deploy the Uruguayan international over the recently arrived Danish international due to his physicality which will certainly help Inter against a physical Lazio midfield that is expected to contain Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Eriksen could of course be risked but it would be a real risk on Conte’s part given the fact Eriksen is still trying to get to grips with his methods and is still trying to get himself back into peak condition following his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur in January.
The report from the Rome based newspaper does however warn that both Vecino and Eriksen could play alongside Marcelo Brozovic in the middle of the park and Nicolo Barella could start from the bench instead.
