Former Inter striker Christian Vieri has spoken on a range of Inter related topics as part of an interview with Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport and firstly spoke on how Inter have reduced the gap between themselves and arch-rivals Juventus.

“Juventus have dominated for over eight years, and Agnelli improves them season after season. They have a stadium of their own, a star like Cristiano Ronaldo and a fantastic organization, they border on perfection,” he began.

“It was not easy for Inter to bridge the gap between themselves and Juventus but in my opinion they are up there with Juventus in many ways. Conte and Marotta are phenomenal. I will give a 10/10 rating to Inter for what they have done both on and off the field. Marotta, in particular, is a super director.”

Next the former Italian national team attacker went on to discuss Inter striker Romelu Lukaku, who has been in top form since his arrival at the club in a club record transfer deal from Manchester United this past Summer.

“He is the pure centre forward. He is devastating, has out of the ordinary physical strength and a sweet left foot despite his size. He has achieved perfect physical shape thanks to Conte. Antonio has brought him to the top.

“Romelu is already at 17 goals in the league, something very impressive for a foreigner in his first year in Serie A. There are very few strikers like him around the world.”

Next Vieri spoke on the partnership that Lukaku has developed with Lautaro Martinez and where he thinks it ranks in terms of strike partnerships in world football.

“The Lukaku-Lautaro partnership guarantees Inter a present and future as top club. They are among the top three or four best partnerships in the world. In terms of age and potential, only Paris Saint Germain can compete with them thanks to having Mbappe, Neymar and Icardi.”

He then went on to sing the praises of Inter manager Antonio Conte and spoke on some of his best characteristics.

“He is devastating, he has everything: preparation, motivation, charisma and malice. He raises his level of competitiveness in any group. He is a manager who quickly makes an impact in terms of results.”

In conclusion he was asked what kind of message he thinks Inter were trying to send their competition by completing the signing of Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur in the recent January transfer window.
“It is simple, Inter want to win immediately. In January, Moses and Young also arrived and with Eriksen, Inter can build for the future as well.

“He is a great player, pure quality, he can cover all the roles from midfield onward, and the fact that he chose the Nerazzurri is confirmation of the ascent the club have made. The Dane has to settle down, he has to start training as Conte wants.”
