Napoli Trying To Get Mertens To Sign An Extension Whilst Monaco, Roma & Inter All Show An Interest In Him

Napoli are trying to sign Dries Mertens to a contract extension amid interest from several other clubs according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The Belgian national team forward’s contract with the Stadio San Paolo club is due to expire at the end of this season and due to this a number of clubs have sparked an interest in signing him on a free transfer.

Ligue 1 outfit Monaco are one of those sides and prepared to give Mertens a two year deal with an annual salary of €5 million plus a €5 million signing on bonus but Mertens is not entirely convinced of the idea of moving to the principality club.

Roma and Inter are both also understood to have an interest in the 32-year-old. Inter are willing to offer him a two year deal with a salary of around €10 million over that time.

This season Mertens has made 26 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored 11 goals and tallied five assists.
