Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen is likely to start against Napoli next week, with captain Samir Handanovic set to return in goal, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The report details how the 28-year-old Dane, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, was likely to start the Derby d’Italia against Juventus on the bench, but now coach Antonio Conte wants to deploy the former Tottenham midfielder from the start against Gennaro Gattuso’s side. He is likely to start ahead of either Nicolo Barella or Matias Vecino, playing as an attacking midfielder to provide more support to the attacking partnership of Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku.
Handanovic will also start in the game, the report continues. The 35-year-old Slovenian shot stopper has recovered from the hairline fracture in his little finger and would have started against Juventus tonight, had the game not been postponed.
