Napoli Offer Inter Target Dries Mertens A New Two-Year Contract

Napoli have offered Inter target Dries Mertens a new contract to try and convince him to stay with the club, according to a report from Italian media outlet FcInterNews today.

The report details how Napoli don’t want to lose the 32-year-old Belgian striker, whose contract expires with the Partenopei in the summer. The Neapolitan club have offered Mertens a two-year contract worth €4.5 million net per season, plus bonuses, which could see the figure rise to €5 million if he scores over ten goals and up to €5.5 million if Napoli qualify for the Champions League.

These figures are essentially the same as those offered by Inter, the report continues, showing how important Mertens is to Napoli. The club expect him to accept the offer. The decision is now entirely within the Belgian striker’s hands, as he could stay in the city where he is a hero or could join his national teammate Romelu Lukaku in a new adventure.
