Real Madrid have set their sights on signing Inter central defender Stefan de Vrij ahead of the upcoming transfer window according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet Don Balon.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez considers de Vrij to be a good and pretty cheap option compared to others given the 28-year-old Dutchman is unlikely to cost any more than €40 million.
It is widely understood that Los Blancos are on the lookout for a long term replacement for club captain Sergio Ramos, whose contract is due to expire at the end of next season.
Reports elsewhere in the media have linked the Spanish powerhouses with a move for de Vrij’s Inter teammate Milan Skriniar but Inter are understood to want at least €80 million to even consider letting the Slovakian international depart the club.
This season Skriniar has contributed a single assist in 32 appearances across all competitions to date.
