The 2020/21 Serie A season is most likely to commence in the second week of September according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
As things stand, the most likely date for the season to begin is September 12, which, if confirmed, will give clubs around about three weeks to prepare following the conclusion of the 2019/20 campaign, which has had to be extended due to the Coronavirus crisis.
The report from the Milan based news outlet also highlights the fact that the transfer window would still be open when the season resumes with the upcoming window set to close at the beginning of October.
UEFA’s executive committee are due to meet tomorrow to discuss and define all the details with regard to finishing the current season and after the meeting, leagues across the continent, including Serie A, will be able to start making more concrete plans for next season.
