Romelu Lukaku On His Way To Break A 71 Year Old Club Record At Inter

Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has the chance to break a 71-year Nerazzurri goal scoring record this season, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 27-year-old Belgian striker, who is contracted to the Milanese club until 2024, has scored 17 goals so far this season in Serie A, the most for a player in their debut season with Inter in the last 71 years. Former Inter striker Ronaldo only managed to net 16 times in his debut season with the Milanese club in the 1997/98 season.

Lukaku could steal the record this season, the report continues. He is only three league goals behind second place István Nyers who scored 20 and eight goals behind record holder Giuseppe Meazza, who netted 25 times in his debut season. Lukaku will need the help of both Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen and striking partner Lautaro Martinez if he is to break the 71-year standing record.
