Inter striker Lautaro Martinez and Barcelona have never been so far away from one another according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
Barcelona have been courting the 22-year-old forward for some time but are far from close to prizing him away from Inter and adding him to their ranks.
The Blaugrana club are held back by their current financial problems, their inability to meet Inter’s demands for the Argentine and La Liga, who are keeping a close eye on clubs finances following the Coronavirus crisis, especially those who asked their players to take wage cuts.
In order to buy Lautaro, Barcelona must make a number of big sales such as Coutinho, Semedo or perhaps even Griezmann.
The reason for this is because La Liga will not count exchange deals whilst they monitor clubs finances and are only allowing clubs to spend money they earn through sales.
The report goes on to explain that Lautaro is further away from Barcelona than he was a month ago and this is excellent news for Inter manager Antonio Conte.
