Inter will try to get Lautaro Martinez to forget about a move to Barcelona by offering him a new and improved contract according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.
For financial reasons Barcelona cannot currently afford to meet Inter’s demands for the highly rated 22-year-old striker, who they have been courting for a considerable amount of time now.
With Barcelona unlikely to have a clear idea about what they can do until September time, Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta will try and convince the Argentine national team forward to stay by offering him a new deal.
The report from the Turin based news outlet goes on to explain that Inter are willing to offer him an extension with a salary raise to €5.5 million a year.
Moreover, as part of a new contract, his current €111 million release clause will either be increased or removed entirely.
