Inter are pondering whether to make a move for Hellas Verona’s Marash Kumbulla according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.
Lazio have made a move for the highly rated Albanian national team player and Inter management are reflecting on whether they should counter this move or not.
Inter have a long standing interest in the 20-year-old defender and held talks with Hellas Verona over him back in January and club leaders are thinking about whether they should spend the money required to sign Kumbulla or allocate the funds toward players more functional to Antonio Conte’s project immediately.
If Inter do not sign Kumbulla, they could well put the money toward the likes of Sandro Tonali, Arturo Vidal, Federico Chiesa and Marcos Alonso.
The report goes on to add that the emergence of young defender Alessandro Bastoni has also got Inter reflecting on whether they need Kumbulla or not.
It also goes on to state that due to Bastoni’s emergence, they could pursue an older player such as Francesco Acerbi or Jan Vertonghen to complete the defence or go after someone who would cost a lot less such as Malang Sarr.
Inter are currently in no hurry and have no real plans to think about the transfer market until August time once the season is over and appear to have other priorities to Kumbulla.
The report concludes that it remains to be seen what Kumbulla wants. Will he wait to get a move to Inter or will he accept Lazio’s courtship.
