A report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport has highlighted why Inter have decided to pull out in the race to sign Hellas Verona talent Marash Kumbulla.
The report details how the Nerazzurri were interested in signing the 20-year-old Albanian defender, who is contracted to the Gialloblu until 2022. The player has attracted the interest of many top clubs around Europe this season due to his strong performances for Verona, impressing in his debut season in Serie A. Kumbulla has agreed to join Lazio and will sign a five-year contract with the Roman club.
Inter were prepared to offer €25 million plus €3 million in add-ons for Kumbulla, the report continues, but in the last few weeks began to slow down in the race for the player. The reasons are because the Nerazzurri would rather focus on signing Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali and coach Antonio Conte has requested a more experienced defender, considering that 20-year-old Alessandro Bastoni is already in the squad.
