Former Inter coach Luciano Spalletti discussed his experiences with the Nerazzurri in an interview released on the official Serie A YouTube channel on Friday.
“Football is the heart of the world, it beats the same everywhere. Those who love it, always play at home and never away. I have consumed miles of road with football, going to catch all the most beautiful sensations.
“I was lucky enough to work for Inter, in Milan I was able to experience the emotions inside that stadium which is the theatre of football and perhaps one of the most beautiful stadiums in Italy. In football, you can often find the dreams of children.”
The 61-year-old Spalletti was the Inter coach from 2017 to 2019. He started his first season strongly with the Nerazzurri, which saw them top the Serie A table after 16 games, sitting undefeated.
Fortune quickly changed but Inter still finished in the top 4, which saw them qualify for the Champions League in dramatic fashion after beating Lazio 4-2 in the final game of the season. This was the first time that the Milanese club had qualified for the Champions League in six years, an important step in the rebuild of the project at Inter.
Spalletti managed to guide Inter to another top 4 finish in his second season in charge, but was dismissed by the club at the end of the season, in order to make way for former Chelsea and Juventus coach Antonio Conte.
