Inter are willing to accept Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann in exchange for Lautaro Martinez, as the Blaugrana look to sign the 22-year-old Argentine striker this summer, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper la Stampa.
The report details how Barcelona will never be able to reach Inter’s request of €111 million, and the Nerazzurri have already refused both Nelsen Semedo and Junior Firpo, two players offered by the Catalan club.
The Milanese club would be interested in Griezmann, but the Frenchman earns around €17 million net per season, a huge wage considering Inter’s highest paid players, Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen, earn €7.5 million per season.
However, the report continues, Inter could make use of a tax exemption in the Italian tax code, which would mean that Griezmann would continue to earn what he currently earns at Barcelona, but that it would cost Inter €22 million gross instead of €34 million gross.
Inter are currently paying €22 million gross in wages to coach Antonio Conte, making Griezmann’s total wage cost on par with the Nerazzurri coach, something Inter can afford.
Inter CEO Beppe Marotta will have to work hard to find both a possible deal with both Barcelona and Griezmann, the report continues. Lionel Messi’s wishes to play with Lautaro may prove important in the talks, as the Argentine star seems increasingly unhappy at the Catalan side, who may look to keep him happy.
