Javier Zanetti has opened the door to holding some form of role in world football’s governing body FIFA but insisted that for now he is fully focused on his current role at Inter as vice-president.

“You never know [I might work for FIFA some day] but for now I am focused on my job at Inter,” Zanetti told Argentine news outlet Infobae.com.

“This job can open doors to me within FIFA and in institutions where I would try to use my experience as a player, always in a positive way.”

Zanetti then moved on to discuss his foundation, the Fundacion Pupi and what it does.

“I like it and it makes me happy to have taken this responsibility on since 2001 which was a difficult year for the Argentinians. It is an opportunity to provide young people with valid tools for what they have to face in life and to train them as people.”
