Spalletti Most Grateful For Fan Support

Speaking to the Inter TV following his sides crushing 4-0 victory over Udinese, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti expressed his joy at both his sides performance and also the role of the travelling support.

“The team went on the field determined to show their quality. They made the right decisions and played a smart game. What gives me more satisfaction from today is the support we received from the travelling supporters. Inter has a history of important players and has won many trophies, so the fans know how to judge a team. The fact that so many supported us shows that the players are now performing in a way that fits the history of this great club.”

The Tuscan manager went on to dissect the performance in more detail.

“We saw a strong, compact team today that did well in recovering loose balls and, most importantly, worked together to cover each others mistakes. We have improved our overall attitude to each game. Today we have three technical players in our midfield and they we able to dribble the ball well, but we saw quality all over the pitch. Handanovic made some great saves, and Ranocchia’s header was needed to unlock the game. Individually the players did well, but most importantly the team showed its standard. We cannot afford to spend seven or eight games playing below this standard which should be the norm for us. Today there were many signs that the team wants to move forward in a positive direction.”

Inter’s win combined with Lazio’s draw with Atalanta reignited the Nerazzurri’s hopes of returning to the Champions League next season.
