Despite Inter’s best efforts to seek a discount on Joao Cancelo, Valencia are completely unwilling to grant any discount and unless Inter cough up the €35 million fee originally agreed, Cancelo will return to Spain Gazzetta dello Sport report.

Inter’s ongoing financial fair play problems, that means they must raise €40 million by the end of June, are the key factor behind the Nerazzurri having difficult in taking up their option on redeeming the Portuguese, that must be exercised by the end of May.

The 23-year-old has asserted himself as a key cog in Luciano Spalletti’s team in recent months and has made 26 appearances across all competitions since arriving last summer.

With it looking likely that Inter are going to have to miss out on keeping Cancelo, the Milan based newspaper also report that Inter have already got a few potential replacements in mind, namely Barcelona’s Nelson Semedo and Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey.
