Luciano Spalletti: “Icardi Wants To Stay At Inter But Some Clubs Can Decide To Take You”

In an interview with Sky Sport, Inter coach Luciano Spalletti once again talked about Mauro Icardi and his future at the club, excluding a departure by the Argentinian striker.

Spalletti began by stating that “I have talked to Mauro several times and his signals are very precise, never doubting. He is happy at Inter and wants to stay, then there are clubs that can decide to take you away. As a player you have to be ready for anything. But for now there are no signs or even doubts about what Icardi wants. The fact that he went to the airport to greet Lautaro Martinez is fundamental. That tells you a lot about the respect he has for the team and his teammates and why he wears the Captain’s armband.”

Then focus then shifted towards the Champions League where the former Roma coach stated that: “The Champions League is the most exclusive competition in the world. I like to watch it on TV, to talk about it and like even more to participate. Experiencing the Champions League is like being part of Disney World of football. It is where every football player’s dream comes true.”

In conclusion Spalletti admitted to being very excited continuing with the Disney World analogy: “Yes, I am a visitor and not a character like Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck, but I would like to see the whole party. So you try to enter the competition with the right mentality because as we could see in yesterday’s final, character and personality can make a difference and if you are not used to that bad things can happen, like what happened to Liverpool and Karius.”
