Inter are set to meet with Roma again this week as they look to close in on a deal for midfielder Radja Nainggolan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Nainggolan scored six goals and made 11 assists for the Giallorossi during the 2017-18 season and has emerged as head coach Luciano Spalletti’s primary target in midfield this summer, as the Nerazzurri look to reinforce their attacking options ahead of participation in next year’s UEFA Champions League.
As such, the Milanese publication reported on Monday that the two clubs will meet again this week to continue negotiations over the player, in the hope that they can reach a deal which everybody wants to push through.
Inter’s challenge is to find a formula that will convince Roma to part company with the 30 year-old but also help them in their quest to respect UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations, with the club required to collate around €45 million in capital gains before 30 June.
Sporting director Piero Ausilio’s current idea is to lower the Giallorossi’s asking price by including a Primavera player in the deal, but to officially separate the two transactions so that the sale of the youngster can be confirmed before 30 June and the signing of Nainggolan after 1 July.
As far as other departures are concerned, Gazzetta also reported that Sassuolo, Sampdoria and Villarreal are interested in signing outgoing forward Eder.
