Sime Vrsaljko joined Inter in this summer transfer window from Atletico Madrid. The Croatian right back impressed during this summers’ FIFA World Cup where he and his Croatian teammates done their country proud in losing 4-2 in the final to France, but reaching their highest ever finish in a major tournament.
Inter have signed Vrsaljko on a loan for €6,5 million and a fee of €17,5 million set for the right to buy at the end of his loan contract. However, Rome based Italian sports newspaper, Corriere dello Sport, reports that there are some details of the deal that until now had not been revealed by either party, they go on to say: “In the details of the contract Atletico Madrid have written in a clause that entitles them to 20% of any future sale price of the player. Basically should Inter decide to activate the €17,5 million clause to buy the player outright, they would then have to pay Atletico Madrid 20% of any fee they should receive if they chose to sell him at any point after that.”
Such clauses are not rare and Inter themselves inserted the exact same clause into the contract of Geoffrey Kondogbia when he moved to Spanish side Valencia last summer on loan. Valencia have now bought the French midfielder outright and so should they decide to sell him Inter will receive 20% of that transfer fee. Inter have also done the same with Zaniolo who moved to Roma in exchange for Radja Nainngolan this summer.
